🌽 Why the Oswego Farmstand Temporarily Closes Each Year to Prepare for Sweet Corn Season

Naperville Hours

As we move from spring into summer, there’s an important transition happening at Keller’s Farmstand. It’s a shift that sets the stage for one of the most anticipated parts of our year.

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, our Oswego Farmstand will temporarily close as we transition from flower and garden season into preparing for sweet corn and summer produce 🌽

While it may seem early, this step is essential to delivering the fresh, high-quality sweet corn our customers look forward to every year.

From Planting to Harvest: The Sweet Corn Timeline

Sweet corn doesn’t just appear overnight. It takes time, planning, and patience.

We start planting it in April and continue to plant it throughout spring until early July-ish. That way, we always have a supply of fresh sweet corn. We stagger the plantings so “batches” will ripen throughout mid-July to (fingers crossed) end of September or even early October.

That means you can expect Keller’s sweet corn to be available sometime in mid-July, right when summer is in full swing.

This growing period is what allows the corn to develop its flavor, sweetness, and quality, making it worth the wait every year.

Why We Close Oswego During This Transition

Closing the Oswego Farmstand temporarily allows our team to fully prepare for the busy summer season ahead.

During this time, we are preparing for incoming summer produce, getting ready for high-volume sweet corn demand, reorganizing and resetting the farmstand for peak season, and making sure everything is set up to deliver the best possible experience.

Sweet corn season is one of our busiest times of the year, and this short pause helps us do it right.

What Happens After May 26

Once Oswego closes, all of our Flower and Garden Season items will be available at our Naperville Farmstand, which will remain open for a few more weeks.

Our team will still be there to help answer questions and make sure you find everything you need.

Looking Ahead to Sweet Corn Season

We know many of you are already thinking about sweet corn, and we are too.

While it won’t be ready until mid-July, everything we’re doing now is part of making sure it’s as fresh and delicious as possible when it arrives.

If you don’t want to miss it, be sure to sign up for our one-time Sweet Corn Alert. We’ll send a text as soon as sweet corn is ready to be purchased at both our Oswego and Naperville locations, so you can get it at its peak 🌽
